What's a Savvy Vegetarian?

What does it mean to be a Savvy Vegetarian? It means being well-informed about vegetarianism, eating right for your physical type, getting all the nutrients your body needs, and at the same time, enjoying the whole process of preparing and eating vegetarian meals. It means being comfortable & confident as a vegetarian.

Becoming vegetarian is challenging and time-consuming, a huge lifestyle change, demanding new knowledge and new ways of doing things. It helps to be flexible, and keep your sense of humor! Its wonderful to have a guide, a teacher or personal coach on your side.

For vegetarians, there is a huge amount of information, useful and otherwise, on the internet, and in hard copy. Its often hard to find what you need, and keep it all straight. The Savvy Vegetarian does the on & offline research, organizes and puts it within easy reach. This allows you to be well informed, without spending all of your spare time online, or hanging out at bookstores.

Going vegetarian is infinitely rewarding, on all levels health, environmental & spiritual. The Savvy Vegetarian is for all kinds of vegetarians, from long time vegs & semi-vegs, to those who are just thinking about it. We feel that every individual has a unique path to follow, and we advocate a gradual, careful transition to vegetarianism.

In general, our approach to vegetarian diet is ayurvedic. Ayurveda is a 5000 year old natural health system from India. It is time-tested, of course, and broad-based, with great depth and flexibitity. We are also well-grounded in modern Western nutrition, and consult a licenced nutritionist as needed.

The Savvy Vegetarian is open-minded, apolitical and non-sectarian. To us, vegetarianism isnt a religion. We believe that The World is My Family our actions affect everything else in the universe. With that in mind, we feel strongly that a diet of non-GMO & organic foods is essential, for our health, and the health of the environment theyre one and the same. However, we dont advocate starving to achieve the goal.
