Most people equate vegetarian diet with healthy eating, and think that it means throwing pleasure out the window. Not True!
The same foods that make vegetarian diet nutritious also make it delicious. Going veg is your chance to break out of your ruts and dull routines. With a vegetarian diet, you can literally not eat the same dish twice for a year.
You may not want to go totally veg to start, but the more veggie your diet, the better the nutrition, and the more you’ll enjoy it.

The Answer To Cancer - Is Never Giving It A Chance To Start, by Hari Sharma, M.D. & Rama K. Mishra, G.A.M.S. with James G. Meade, PH.D, Select Books, 2002. This is a book everyone should read, because it's informative, helpful, compassionate, and upbeat, and unlike most "must reads", wise and witty. James Meade's sense of humor is priceless, making a frightening subject easy to take. He recommends a vegetarian diet. Order it from Amazon
The Bone Density Diet, 6 Weeks to a Strong Body and Mind, by George J. Kessler, D.O., P.C. with Colleen Kapklein, Ballantyne Books 2000. Even though I suspect he may have some incentive to recommend HRT, there is more than enough excellent material on the alternatives to make it worthwhile. Kessler's dietary recommendations are easily adapted to vegetarian diet. His book tells how osteoporosis, which afflicts most elderly N. American women, and a significant percentage of men, can be completely prevented, and reversed at any age. Order it from Amazon.com
The Food Revolution, by John Robbins: What's "The Food Revolution about? What we eat, how it gets to our plates, and what that's doing to us and the planet. It exposes the lies about factory farming that the American public accepts without question. It can't help being a persuasive argument for vegetarianism.
The New Becoming Vegetarian - The Complete Guide To Adopting A Healthy Vegetarian Diet , by Vesanto Melina, R.D., Brenda Davis, R.D., Victoria Harrison, R.D., Macmillan Canada 2005. This is an excellent vegetarian nutrition reference, that I recommend to all vegetarians. I would have liked to see more chapters on making the vegetarian transition, including cooking and social adaptation. But hey, that's what Savvy Vegetarian free reports are for! You can order this book from Amazon.com
Veggie Revolution, Fulcrum Publishing, by authors Sally Kneidel, Ph.D., and Sara Kate Kneidel: A new book about an old subject: the connection between vegetarianism, social activism and the environment. Veggie Revolution connects the dots. To preserve the natural environment man and animal have to return to the principles of good animal husbandry and sensible farming practices.

For instance, did you know that "Dried seeds, grains and legumes do not contain discernible traces of ascorbic acid, yet when sprouted, they reveal quite significant quantities which are important in the body’s ability to metabolise proteins. The infinite increase in ascorbic acid derives from their absorption of atmospheric elements during growth."
If you weren't a sprouter before you read this, you probably will be after you do.

Vegetarian Times
Lightweight, a quick read, recipes, useful tidbits of information, but sometimes incomplete or erroneous information, as in a recent article stating that soy was now safe to eat. The article didn't mention that soy has at least 16 known allergens, and should still be used with caution. This issue also featured many ads for soy products. I include this magazine because any publication that supports vegetarianism is a good thing. Read with a grain of salt.
Veg News Vicarious green living at it's best. This is a very cool magazine, and lovely to look at. Ads galore, of course - but mostly ones you'll want to see. Veg News is fun to read, informative, not ponderous or wordy, just light and upbeat.
