SV Site Review: Living Vicariously Through Veg News

I was pleasantly surprised by Veg News - offering vegan and vegetarian news, politcs, food, travel, buzz. I had braced myself for serious vegan rants, or empty fluffiness, but no such thing!

Veg News is a very cool magazine. Slick, yes, but that's ok - it only makes it lovely to look at. Ads galore, of course - how else do they pay for all that loveliness? Besides, the ads are mostly ones you'll want to see. Veg News is fun to read, informative, not ponderous or wordy, just light and upbeat.

I read every word of the September '05 Travel Issue of Veg News. I drooled over their reviews of fabulous vegetarian places to go all over the world. I found an informative article about digital photography - confirming that film does indeed contain gelatin, made from animal parts - and all the fun things to do with your digital camera on your veggie vacation. There was an excellent interview with Donald Watson, the founding father of veganism, on the occasion of his 95th birthday.

Veg News is also notable for its annual Veggie Awards, in many categories. That will be coming up in December. All in all, Veg News is blissful, and well worth the modest subscription cost.
