Vegetarian Advice for Teens and Their ParentsTeens are the most energetic, aware, and idealistic people on earth, the most likely to walk the talk, and go vegetarian or vegan.Going vegetarian or vegan seems to be more challenging for teens than for any other group. The usual concerns about vegetarian diet, nutrition, lifestyle, relationships, and health are all magnified by other challenges that teens especially face: lack of understanding, and/or hostility from family, nutrition needs for growth and development, learning about vegetarian cooking and nutrition, peer pressure, weight, fitness, and self-confidence. Teens are also the most energetic, aware, and idealistic people on earth. Not only do they have still have ideals, but they are the most likely to walk the talk, act on their ideals, and go vegetarian or vegan, often for life. They're saving the planet, while their parents often aren't even aware that it needs saving! Because of the extra challenges, it's not surprising that teen vegetarians need advice. It's also not surprising when teens don't want any advice. I'm always honored when they write to me! Savvy Vegetarian gets a lot of advice letters, these days! I read them all, and answer as many as I can (about 30%), as quickly as I can. I focus on answering the ones that seem most pressing, that I haven't answered before, and that I'm qualified to answer. My daughter Sarah is now answering advice letters too, so that means you're twice as likely to get an answer. It still might take us a while to respond. If you want an answer now, you can learn a lot by reading the letters listed below. Or download any of the Free Savvy Vegetarian Reports. Or cruise the articles or resources. There's a lot of veggie info on Savvy Vegetarian. If you don't find what you need, please write to us. We're always glad to hear from you! Happy Vegging!
