Savvy Vegetarian Advice

Dear K. L.,

I'm sorry, but I'm not a dietition or nutritionist and that's really what you need to give you a daily vegetarian diet to follow that may help your acne. I also know almost nothing about the causes, prevention and treatments for acne. From what I've read about it, acne seems to be a complex skin disease.

I did a little research for you, and saw a variety of sites about acne treatment.

This seemed like a good one to me: Acne Treatments, Information and Solutions

And this one: the scientific link between diet and acne

And this article from a doctor who has had acne and treated it extensively with diet and other approaches.

From Ayurveda, I've seen how diet can have a profound effect on your health. However, it seems that acne can be triggered in so many different ways besides diet - stress, hormones, hygiene, lifestyle, environment - that I can see how diet alone might not be the key to improvement. Have you consulted a doctor, naturopath or dietition about acne treatment?

Exercise will help your tummy be flatter - I haven't found anything else that does the trick in 59 years! Walking is supposed to be especially effective in reducing belly fat, although it doesn't really tone the stomach muscles. Fresh air and exercise may also have a good effect on your skin.

All the best, Judy Kingsbury, Savvy Vegetarian
