Site Review: Green Peace - truefoodnow.org - Find Non-GMO FoodsSavvy Vegetarian NewsVol. 1, Issue 2, March, 2003Back To Newsletter IndexUpdate, Dec. 9, 2003:Well, I complained about the navigation, and a few other people must have too, because the site has been completely redesigned since I first saw it, and it's now very easy to find everything. The trouble is, that "everything" isn't quite the same. The site is still True Food Network. The True Food Shopping List is now the Shopper's Guide The Whole Foods List no longer exists, so scatch that. Just buy organic, it's the only safe thing to do! Inside Scoop has disappeared, and so has Q & A. They've been replaced with a page on CSA's, and pages about various anti GMO campaigns, with many exhortations to join, participate, and donate, which is good, of course, but I just have to whine a bit about the missing information.* The shoppers guide is still undeniably useful, to those who buy prepared foods. And there is a lot of information on developments in the GE crop industry. You can now find these things easily on True Food Network. The Original Review:This is a useful site, which I found written up in our local whole foods newsletter. If you're wondering which foods are safe to eat, or not, here's where you can find answers: True Food Network This link is the home page, which was somewhat confusing to me. I wanted to find lists of safe and not-safe prepared and processed foods, and it wasn't clear to me where to go for that. I found what I was looking for after fumbling around for a few minutes. On the way to finding the grocery list, I found the whole foods list, which was actually of more interest to me, since I make most of my food from scratch: True Food Guide (*this link no longer exists). After all that, I was in the swing of things, and looked around some more. I found GE industry news, which had a short summary, and a link to the full piece: Inside Scoop (*this link no long exists). Then there was the Q&A section, which I also liked for the straight answers, and the archives: Q & A (*this link no long exists). Please let us know what you thought of this site.

Index: Savvy Vegetarian NewsVol. 1, Issue 2, March, 2003Article: Vegetarians, Are You Getting Enough Vitamin B12?"When you're a vegetarian, some people, even doctors and nutritionists who ought to know better, will insist that your diet can't possibly meet all of your nutritional needs, especially your B12 requirements. If you don't know a great deal about nutrition, you may even start to worry that they're right." Ask The Savvy Vegetarian: How To Feed A Lactose Intolerant Child:"We just found out that our three-year-old is allergic to milk. She also refuses to eat most beans. At the moment her only protein source is eggs. Do you have any ideas how I can get more protein and calcium into my daughter? Anxious Mom" Vegan Recipe: Quick and Easy Non-Dairy Cream of Broccoli Soup:This delicious soup makes a great beginning to a meal, or the basis of a light meal, with bread and nut butter, hummus, or cheese. Review: Green Peace Site - truefoodnow.org - Find Non-GMO Foods:"This is a really useful site. If you're wondering which foods are GMO free, and safe to eat, or not, here's where you can find answers, in the form of long lists of brand name prepared and processed foods, basic raw foods, fruit and vegetables, etc." Letter: Protect National Forest Wildlife HabitatsClick here to ask questions or send contributions to Savvy Vegetarian News.
