Green Power Breakfast Smoothie: Alkaline, mild tasting, healthy, energy boosting shot of super nutrients, inspired by the many excellent green smoothie recipes in the Abundance Diet Cookbook by Somer McCowan, plus all the greens in my garden and at the local farmers market.
I've never thought that I could actually live on smoothies, but this one has changed my mind. I've been making it every day for breakfast, and 1/2 the recipe (2 servings) energizes me all morning, because it's packed solid with nutrition, yet easy to digest.
This smoothie does take some time to make, compared to toast, or cereal from a box. Especially with my Ordinary Blender. BUT it's so worth it!

If you're rushed in the morning, you can pack the blender the night before, then just whiz it up in the morning and take it along.
I make green power smoothie in my ordinary Oster blender, and it works fine, although it takes much longer to get smooth than with a high speed blender - about 10 minutes.
Without any sweeteners this smoothie tastes a lot like green salad - without the salad dressing. It goes down smoother with a little sweetening, but if you really can't do sugar or even banana, go for coconut water or stevia - a very handy ingredient if you want to reduce sugar in your diet. I like the Nu Naturals brand.
I don't add ice to my smoothies, because I don't like them chilled, and my ordinary blender doesn't do ice anyway. If you think ice is nice, just replace part of the water with frozen water.
I also don't add protein powder, because it makes smoothies sludgy, imho. If that seems like sacrilege to you, throw in a scoop of protein powder and skip the hemp and chia seeds.
